Since it’s the start of June and almost halfway through the year (!) there couldn’t be a better time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic, which I’m going to use as a kind of recap of this year in Literature. I’ve read a lot of great books this year so this Top Ten Books I’ve Read This Year list will be rather easy. Well, hopefully…
In no particular order my Top Ten are:
10.
Fathers and Sons – Ivan Turgenev
9.
Poor Folk – Fyodor Dostoyevsky
8.
Rubicon – Tom Holland
7.
Agnes Grey – Anne Bronte
6.
Inferno – Dante
5.
The Plague – Albert Camus
4.
Animal Farm – George Orwell
3.
The Theban Plays – Sophocles
2.
The Book of Sand – Jorge Luis Borges
1.
Persuasion – Jane Austen
I won’t add descriptions since I did a major post about most of these but I will say that so far this year I have read books that I will carry with me for a lifetime. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read, some more than others, but I have enjoyed them all.

What a fabulous selection of books!
This year has been great for books so far, I only hope it continues this way!
I need to read Fathers and Sons, and The Plague!
Nice list,too! 🙂
They’re both two of the best books I’ve read I hope you enjoy them like I did!
Great list — you’ve done some heavy reading this year! Of the four on this list I’ve actually read, I think The Plague was my favorite. Here’s my list Here’s my list
Thanks! Ahh I loved the Plague it was incredibly moving and such an enjoyable experience. Can’t wait until I read the Stranger by Albert Camus.
Persuasion is a brilliant book! And your blog design is gorgeous. Here’s my TTT, l would really appreciate it if you checked it out!
It’s one of my new favourites, and definitely my favourite Austen. I checked your list out I don’t think I’ve read any of them but they look interesting. I’ll have to check them out.
Horray for Agnes Grey! That’s one of my favorites, though I didn’t realize how much I liked it until time passed and it stayed with me. 🙂
It’s one of my favourite Bronte novels, probably after Wuthering Heights. Brilliant. Anne was so gifted.
What a list of great books, although I haven’t read any Borges yet. But the fact you liked him will make me bump him higher on my TBR list.
Borges is such a unique experience. I’d recommend Labyrinths as a starting point.
